Dr. Nageshwar Reddy is a renowned Indian gastroenterologist, a Padma Shri awardee, and the Chairman and Managing Director of the Global Hospitals Group. He is a leader in the field of digestive diseases and hepatology. He is well known for his research in the field of advanced endoscopy and is credited with performing the first endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) in India. Dr. Nageshwar Reddy is the Chief of Gastroenterology & Therapeutic Endoscopy in India.
He completed his graduation degree with an internal medicine degree from Kurnool Medical College, a Master’s degree from Madras Medical College, and a D.M. in Gastroenterology from PGIMER in Chandigarh.
Afterward, he served as a Professor of Gastroenterology for Andhra Pradesh Health Sciences, then went on to found the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, a highly specialized hospital for gastrointestinal issues. Now he is the Chairman and founder of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) at Gachibowli, Hyderabad, India.
Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) is considered one of the best and biggest Gastroenterology hospitals in the world. It was established as a new concept of daycare unit where major Endoscopic surgical procedures could be done on the basis of outpatient without resorting to hospitalization.
He started his professional career at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad. He then moved on to work at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and the Global Hospitals Group. Under his leadership, Global Hospitals Group has become a leading name in multi-specialty medical care, with several hospitals and clinics across India.

He is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, and he was given the world’s highest gastroenterology award in Shanghai, China, at a function held in September 2013.
The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) awarded Dr. Reddy the Master Endoscopist Award in 2009, the highest award in the field of endoscopy in the world, and is also termed the “Nobel Prize of Endoscopy“.
He was conferred with the Rudolf V. Schindler Award, the highest category in the prestigious Crystal Awards named after Dr. Schindler who is considered “the father of gastroscopy” by the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
His main area of research and interest has been in G.I. Endoscopy, particularly in Therapeutic Pancreatic Biliary Endoscopy (TPBE) and Innovations in Transgastric Endoscopic Surgery (TES).
He is on the Editorial Board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, Digestive Endoscopy, World Journal of Gastroenterology, World Gastroenterology News, Gastroenterology Today, Recent Patents on Medical Imaging, and Gastrohep.com (GastroHep is part of a partnership between Wiley and Hindawi).
He was the President of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India in 2001. He has been a visiting faculty for over 200 international endoscopy workshops and a forum member of the Asian Endoscopy Masters Forum.
His father Dr. D. Bhaskar Reddy, a retired Director of Medical and Health Services, former Vice-chancellor of Nagarjuna University, and former director of NIMS breathed his last in Hyderabad on the 15th of March 2011.

Mission
Dr. Reddy said, “After attaining 70 years of age I will take a rest from the medical field and starts to put interests and efforts into the research field of medical science.
At present 40 people at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology are doing research on Diabetes and after 10 years he decided to start a research institute in Hyderabad on foods we take daily.
